| Description | Letter to Dr (Daniel?) Pollen (Agent for General Government?) from unknown writer, possibly J.A. Wilson, 26 June 1869. Says that he is aware of a Native named Matene who escaped from Te Kooti in March 1868 & that there was a large war party en route to Taupo (without Te Kooti) led by a Rangatira named Karamana who is able to punish with death. Their plan is to win over the Natives at Taupo and then go to the (Maori) King & win him over & then attack Rotorua & Tauranga.
