Letters to Donald McLean from (probably) Maj. W.G. Mair, 29 July 1870. Letter 1 Mentions never have previously had any trouble with Awanui, successful meetings with Urewera tribe at Ruatahuna & that they have quite made up their minds for peace & that Te Kooti has established himself at Motu but cannot establish the number of people he has with him. Letter 2 mentions Rapata (Napata?) has requested to make use of Hira Te Popo's men to search for Nepia Tokitahi. Also requests that McLean responds to his question about Te Waru.
